Urijah Faber looks to make a title run
The California Kid as he goes by is ready to have yet another title shot. Yes, it’s true that Urijah Faber did in fact recently lose his fight to Dominick Cruz in 2011, but after an amazing performance against the former WEC champ, Dominick Cruz, Faber looks to be the toughest contender around in the weight class. Should Urijah Faber next fight continue on the tear, expect to see a new champ crowned in 2012.
On the other side, champion Dominick Cruz feels he has Faber’s number and believes he will finish him this time around in their showing. Last time it was a long drawn out five round war that did not come to an end. In the end, Cruz did enough to get the judges decision, making him the still reigning champion. The two have had many harsh words for each other, with neither backing down from their comments.
Many have forgotten, but Faber has actually had a win over the champ Dominick Cruz from their WEC days when it was Urijah Faber that was the alpha male, dominating the higher weight class. Since then both men have dropped all the way down to featherweight at 135 lb. The drop in weight so far has been better for the lengthier Cruz. The bout can finally put rest to a long awaited ending to this classic trilogy when they headline the UFC in 2012. Keep a look out for the fireworks these two loook to put on in September.
