Golf Advice That Will Improve Your Score

I was laughing with my friend Mark Hesemann last week about how golf can be one dangerous game. It is a seductive and addictive sport that can suck away your time and money – sometimes without any benefit. By learning more about the sport, though, you can protect yourself from potential time-wasting and make sure that you get the most out of what you devote to golf.If your tee shot starts out heading away from the fairway, don’t slam your club and walk away without first watching where your ball goes. The best way to add insult to the injury of a poor drive is to realize as you walk down the course that you have no idea where your ball went. Keep track of that ball, and give yourself a chance to get back in the fairway without having to play a new ball and suffer the penalty stroke. One rule of etiquette when playing golf is to replace your divots. Divots are made when the face of your club removes a chunk of dirt and grass from the ground with your swing. Whether your swing is good or bad, a divot can occur. It is never acceptable not to replace a divot, so make sure to replace your divot in the hole and lightly tamp it in. The roots of the grass of the replaced divot will quickly take hold again and the ground will not remain scarred. If your golfing putts need work, there are a couple of easy drills to get them up to snuff. One easy exercise is to throw a dime a short ways and try to get the ball to land on it. Another drill is to try to sink five one-foot shots in a row, and then increase distance. The tips presented here are just a few of the many ways you can get more out of your golfing experience. As long as you have a taste for the game, you will always find golf enjoyable. It is that much more fun when you use tips like these to maximize the results of your golfing efforts.
